Fourth Annual MCBA Kid's Camp 

This year’s Day Camp was “COOL DUDES’ RODEO…Learnin’ the ropes of followin’ Christ.” Our camp is a combination of Bible Study and Creative Ministries, with some crafts and games and silly songs added for good measure.

There were two new items this year. “Sealed Orders” were private devotion times with scripture, a short passage to read, some thoughts to ponder and items to pray about. The other new item was “McGee & Me”. This time each day used a short video series about McGee, a cartoon creation who helps Nicholas make decisions by reminding him of options and guiding him as he weighs the possibilities. We talked about how the Holy Spirit is God’s voice to help us know what we should and shouldn’t do. This series of videos uses a lot of scripture and has strong Christian parents who try to guide Nicholas in the right direction.

Our Bible Studies focused on 1.) Knowing Christ, 2.) Walking in Faith through Bible Study and Prayer, and 3.) Sharing our Faith through the lives we live. Hopefully the children have a better understanding not only of how to be saved, but how to build their faith and a strong foundation for their lives. Each child received a New Testament with 30 days of devotions in them. We know of one child who received Christ. That makes 100 degree temps worth it any day.

A special thanks goes to each of the youth and adult workers who helped with the different groups each day. We could not have Day Camp without leaders who plan and work with the children. Hopefully we can add more churches next year and begin friendships among our children from the various churches. We had about 30 children and 15 workers each day, and look forward to more joining us next year. Day Camp is always the week after Mission Trip, so mark your calendars and plan to join us. I am always looking for new ideas and volunteers to come along beside the kids and work with us.
